Melissa O’Dell

Melissa began her career
as a Consultant
in 2003, studying the highly
specialized field of workplace
safety and insurance claims
management under the
guidance and mentorship
of Jim O’Dell. She brings to
our clients not only the
benefits of ‘hands on’
training from Jim, but also the fresh perspective of her Paralegal education. Melissa attended Yorkville College of Professional Studies and in 2006 earned an Honours Diploma in their Paralegal Program.


In 2008, Melissa obtained her license as a Paralegal, a legislative requirement, and is regulated by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Jim O’Dell

Jim O’Dell brings to his clients
the knowledge and experience
gained from a twenty-year
career in claims adjudication
and management at the
Workplace Safety and
Insurance Board. Since 1990,
Jim has provided advice and
representation to employers
across a broad spectrum of
industries. Through the application of his technical expertise in WSIB policies and procedures, Jim has enabled employers to save millions of dollars through the WSIB’s NEER program. He has, for example, achieved savings for one large employer of over $12.5M over the last five years.

The long-term clients of EMCOMP PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION list Jim’s results, in-depth knowledge, integrity, attention to detail, cheerfulness, and professionalism as the reasons for the continuing relationship, which, in many cases, spans fifteen years or more.

Jim conducts seminars on WSIB claims management, and speaks at Humber College at a Human Resources Program twice per year.
